Over many years working with tarantulas, my most recent personal discovery as a hobbyist and tarantula keeper, is mineral water. One day while mating a Harpactirella lightfooti pair, the female lunged at and attacked the male. She was successful and inflicted two solid fang holes, one in his abdomen and one on the carapace, both wounds were leaking fluid. I rescued him, but within minutes he was already curling his legs underneath himself, which is usually a fatal death curl. I decided to place him in a sterile ICU (Just a clean dry tub with dry tissue) and placed a large very shallow water dish beneath him with just a few mm of water in it. I happened to have a bottle of mineral water near me that I bought earlier in the day, so I just used it instead of normal tap water. I placed him fangs down in the water and rested his abdomen on the side so his lungs didn’t lay in water.
Within a day or two, not only were his wounds sealed up, he had made a new sperm web. This was amazing to me, I’d never seen a spider with severe injuries like this recover so quickly. I could only think the water had some part to play. So I immediately started experimenting with different types of mineral water and giving it to all my tarantulas, especially those that I bought in collections and were in bad shape.
Araña Mineral Water©, is now a special mix of minerals and trace elements in a much higher concentration than any normal drinking mineral water and is proving to be a wonder supplement for tarantulas. Without a doubt, the difference is visible. You will notice your tarantulas regain health very quickly, are more active, more responsive, recover their appetite and in general move around with a little more zest. We have yet to see how it benefits other animals as well…
Saved a Psalmopoeus irminia – Suntiger 4cm juvenile/sling that was in a death curl and barely moving, with this water.
Saved a Tliltocatl albopilosus – Curly that had a completely deflated abdomen and was in a death curl and barely moving, with this water.
Saved a mature male Neoholothele incei that overnight went in to a death curl and was barely moving by morning. Within a few hours we was eating again.
Saved the abovementioned Harpactirella lightfooti mature male with this water.
So for me, personally. Quality water is now part of the hobby. End of story. My Tarantulas eat well, molt well and breed well. That’s all I can ask for.
“So we had an old male in death curl yesterday. Gave him some mineral water and he was bolting again 30min later 😱”
“So our T ockerti was not lekka since her recent molt! We had a photoshoot yesterday and you can see on the photo’s there is something wrong! So I gave her some mineral water yesterday and today she is a new spider😳”

“Another victory for your water… 3 days in ICU and a full recovery, its trying to web up the ICU and gives me a threat pose if I open the lid. That’s from complete death curl and almost no response except twitching spinnerets… Electrolytes are absolutely key to recovery.”
